Carib Cement is JIE Project of the Year

THE Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL) Kiln 5 project has been named "Project of the Year" by the Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE).

The presentation was made at the JIEAnnual Awards dinner at the Jamaica Pegasus on Saturday, November 28, 2009,where Carib Cement’s Kiln 5 project was named “JIE Project of the Year 2009”.

JIE President, David Chung presented the award on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the organisation's annual awards banquet at the Jamaica Pegasus to Ken Wiltshire, manager for the project which encompasses the construction of a new 2,800 metric tones per day clinker manufacturing line at the company's Rockfort, Kingston plant.

The US$126-million project, now gives Carib Cement the capacity to meet local market growth for 15 plus years, and to earn hard currency from export sales. The company spent over US$3 million on human capital development and over J$20 million on community training.
