Minister Valley to speed up procedures for the import of cement

It was reported in the Trinidad Guardian today that Industry Minister Ken Valley said on Friday that the Government will have to speed up procedures for the implementation of an order allowing the importation of cement into Trinidad & Tobago. The minister was responding to the decision by Trinidad Cements Limited to increase the price of cement by $4 per bag.

Valley said: “There is little that we can do at this stage. We have already gotten the Caricom secretariat to agree to the import of cement from external sources and I guess it is simply the drafting of the order. I will have to speak with the Attorney General so we can speed up the order.”
