CIBC FirstCaribbean Announces Executive Appointments

Bridgetown, Barbados. 11 September, 2012. CIBC FirstCaribbean has announced two appointments to its Senior Executive Team, subject to regulatory and governmental approvals. CIBC Executive, Mr. Brian Lee, has been named as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer, while Mr. David Whitcroft will take up a new assignment as Group Treasurer.

Mr. Lee will join the bank early in 2013, subject to regulatory and governmental approvals. He comes to CIBC FirstCaribbean from CIBC’s head office in Toronto where he has worked since 2001, most recently as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate, Finance. Chief Executive Officer, Rik Parkhill, in making the announcement, said: “Brian brings to CIBC FirstCaribbean extensive expertise in financial analysis and planning and broad experience working across business lines and segments”.

A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Masters’ Degree in Accounting, both from the University of Waterloo. Mr. Lee’s appointment comes following the resignation of current Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Kiyomi Daniel, who leaves the bank after a decade of distinguished service.

Mr. Whitcroft is an experienced Treasury professional having previously served with, National Australia Bank, Barclays and CIBC FirstCaribbean in a series of Treasury roles since 1995. He originally moved to the region in 2001 to work on the Treasury integration project at the time of the Barclays and CIBC merger. Most recently he has been Director, Offshore Treasury & Investments for CIBC FirstCaribbean.

In addition to a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Mathematics from University College, University of London, Mr. Whitcroft holds a postgraduate diploma in Actuarial Science as awarded by the Cass Business School, City University London. In the context of other professional qualifications, he holds the International Securities Industry General Certificate as awarded by ISMA and the University of Reading and has General Representative status as awarded by the UK’s Securities and Futures Authority. He also completed the two-year CIBC Executive Leadership Programme at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and recently concluded a four-month attachment with CIBC Treasury in Toronto.

Mr. Parkhill added: “David has made a sterling contribution to our bank over the past decade. He has honed his considerable skills within the Caribbean milieu, and has a deep understanding of CIBC FirstCaribbean, our environment, and has used that knowledge to assist in the development of our Treasury function over the years.” Mr. Parkhill added his thanks to current Group Treasurer, Richard Rice.
