Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago identifies new Country Head

Port of Spain, June 4, 2012 - The Board of Directors of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited has announced its intention to appoint Anya Schnoor as Country Head of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited, subject to regulatory approvals. Ms. Schnoor, will succeed Mr. Richard P. Young who will be retiring on October 31, 2012.

"Anya has a long record of success and in her time with Scotiabank Jamaica has made a significant contribution to the success of the country's Wealth Management business," said Brian Porter, Chairman of the Board of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago and Group Head of International Banking at Scotiabank. "I know that as Country Head she will continue to build on our tradition of strong leadership and, along with the Scotiabank Trinidad & Tobago management team, I congratulate Anya on her new role."

Ms. Schnoor, a Jamaican national, joined Scotiabank Jamaica in 2006 as head of the Wealth Management division and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector in the Caribbean. She has been recognized in past years as one of Jamaica's leading executives and was awarded Jamaica's Top CEO in 2008.

At the Bank' s board meeting last week, Ms. Schnoor was appointed Director to the Boards of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited and Scotiatrust and Merchant Bank Trinidad and Tobago Limited.

"Anya has played an integral role in advancing our business in Jamaica and I am confident that her extensive background in Wealth Management and Insurance combined with her strong leadership skills will serve her well as head of Scotiabank Trinidad & Tobago," said Claude Norfolk, Scotiabank Senior Vice-President of International Banking for the Caribbean. "I look forward to working closely with her in her new role."

Mr. Young announced his retirement on June 1, 2012, after 17 years of dedicated service to the Bank.
