CHANGES TO REPUBLIC FINANCIAL HOLDINGS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, December 12, 2023: Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL) announced today changes to its Board of Directors. Effective December 12, 2023, Mr. Peter Inglefield has retired from the RFHL Board while Mr. Mark Loquan and Senior Counsel Jason Mootoo have both joined as the Group’s newest directors.
Peter Inglefield was first appointed as a RFHL Director in 2020 and has chaired RFHL’s Audit subcommittee and served as a member of the Enterprise Risk subcommittee. During his tenure, the Group benefited from his over thirty (30) years of extensive experience in taxation and accounting at both the local and regional levels. He also guided the Group’s regional and international expansion by sharing his expertise on cross-border transactions, tax treaty considerations, withholding tax matters and structuring local operations.
In reference to Inglefield’s impact, RFHL Chairman, Vincent Pereira stated “On behalf of the board and the entire Group, I extend our deepest gratitude to Peter for his dutiful service and invaluable contribution. His wisdom and insight have been instrumental to our success and his presence will be sincerely missed. We wish him all the best on his well-deserved retirement.”
Concurrent to Inglefield’s retirement, is the addition of Mark Loquan and Jason Mootoo to the RFHL Board. Both Directors were elected by shareholders at the RFHL Annual General Meeting hosted on December 11, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
With over thirty-five (35) years of experience in the petrochemical industry, Mark Loquan presently serves as the President of The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC). Upon assuming the position in 2016, he has championed the transformation of the state enterprise by expanding its business portfolio across the value chain, streamlining internal processes through technology, and incorporating a new strategic focus on the energy transition and sustainability.
Appointed Senior Counsel in 2023, Jason Mootoo, regularly appears as an advocate attorney in both the High Court and Court of Appeal in high profile complex litigation and has appeared before the Privy Council in a variety of notable cases. His primary areas of practice include, inter alia, commercial disputes and arbitration, contractual claims, company law disputes, banking and finance, receiverships and liquidation and trusts. During his career, Mootoo has acted for and advised a variety of organisations including multinationals, financial institutions, and publicly listed companies.
Commenting on the appointments of Loquan and Mootoo, Chairman Pereira remarked “We’re honoured to have Mark and Jason join our Board. Their unique skills and proven track records align perfectly with our Group’s strategic vision and their diverse perspectives will undoubtedly strengthen RFHL’s decision-making processes and governance systems.”
