Tiah steps down as head of Phoenix Gas

Oct 31, 2014

Eugene Tiah, president of Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL), is leaving the company after 23 years of service, including 13 years in the top post.

In a release announcing his departure yesterday, the company said Tiah had contributed significantly to the growth and development of PPGPL.

“He joined the company as the maintenance superintendent and held various management positions. In 2001, he was appointed to the position of president, the first Trinidadian to hold that position, and led several successful expansion projects as the company grew to meet the increased local demand for processed gas,” the company said.

“This established a platform for PPGPL exploring future growth opportunities both locally and internationally.”

Under Tiah’s leadership, PPGPL had achieved 100 per cent growth in its asset base. The company’s annual revenues increased from less than $100 million in 2001 to over $800 million last year.

The statement from PPGPL continued: “Mr Tiah was a champion and example for the preservation of the company’s core values, especially in the areas of safety, environmental preservation and ethical business conduct. He will be leaving a legacy of which he can be very proud.”

Dominic Rampersad has been appointed to act as president. He has worked at PPGPL for 20 years, and has held various portfolios including vice president, Finance and IT, management accountant, financial accountant and business development.

PPGPL, established in May 1989 and located on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, is one of the largest gas processing facilities in the Americas. The company provides natural gas to customers by processing raw natural gas delivered to its facility through the existing natural gas pipeline system.
