TTSEC re-elected to global securities board

The T&T Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) has been re-elected to the board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), until 2016. Constituted this week at the IOSCO Annual Conference in Rio de Janeiro, the new board has 34 members representing the geographical diversity of IOSCO’s membership. This marks the end of a transitional period that began with the creation of the first board in 2012. The TTSEC is the only Caribbean representative on the IOSCO board.

Greg Medcraft, chairman of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), was re-elected chairman at the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted board. Also re-elected was. Howard Wetson, chair of the Ontario Securities Commission, as vice chair. Ranjit Singh, who was re-elected chair of the IOSCO Growth and Emerging Market (GEM) Committee, continues ex officio as board vice chair.  Singh is also the chair of the Securities Commission Malaysia. 

Leonardo P Gomes Pereira, chairman of the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários of Brazil, was re-elected as a vice chair of the GEM Committee. He joins Bert Chanetsa of the South African Financial Services Board, who was re-elected as GEM Committee vice chair. All appointments are for a two-year term.

The members of the IOSCO board are the securities regulatory authorities of Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Ontario, Pakistan, Peru, Quebec, , Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, T&T, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.
