New brand unveiled (Neal & Massy, Barbados)

Jul 02, 2014

Neal & Massy is now officially rebranded as Massy Group of Companies, a move which was unveiled yesterday at the Auto Dome in Warrens, St. Michael.

Gervase Warner, Group CEO of Massy Ltd, proclaimed that this journey of hard work from 2011 is not just a change in name but an effort to create a new operating structure to capture synergies and optimise growth across Neal & Massy businesses.

He said, “We believe that redefining our corporate brand strengthens that cohesion across our companies to better communicate to our customers, and all our stakeholders, the benefits of doing business with us. We have chosen the name Massy to represent the corporate identity and it will be the unifying brand across all of our subsidiary companies and territories within which we conduct business. Our new logo is simple, bold and modern like our vision. It represents the interconnectedness of our Group of Companies, and the stylized infinity symbol retains the N and M of our previous corporate entity.

“One of the benefits of the unified Massy identity is that it allows us to thank our loyal Massy customers for their business in our supermarket, pharmacy, automotive, insurance, remittance and consumer finance business,” he said.

Warner highlighted, “Barbados remains a gorgeous country, [with] fantastic people. Its assets and environment makes it a great place for people to want to come, but you have to create a climate that is attractive to investment, that means we have to go out and promote Barbados as an investment destination.

“I think we need to do what we need to do here in Barbados to address the economic crisis and challenges that we have as a country and clearly the government has a lot of ideas and is trying to do its best, but I certainly do recognise more has to be done and we have to do it faster. I say ‘we’ because we are part of Barbados too,” he opined.

Donville Inniss, Barbados’ Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, while speaking at the event indicated, “Some people in Barbados may see an advent like this as the final touches of a Trinidadian company taking over a Barbados company. However, we need to move beyond that and face the reality. The reality is that we have to be more accepting of others and enterprises while at the same time be more aggressive in our pursuits of enterprise and spread our wings further afield.

“Let us in the region and in Barbados take a leaf from the books of Neal & Massy. Let us ask ourselves ‘What is our brand and how do we package and sustain that brand?’ We assure Neal & Massy and other foreign and local investors that Barbados and the people of Barbados welcome your investment. Even though it is not an opening of a new building or enterprise, you are indeed cementing your presence in our island and paving a way for the growth of your enterprise, which ultimately means more jobs for our people and more avenues for the sale of our products and services.” (NB)
