TCL, Micro Milling in cement deal for Guyana

TCL (Guyana) Incorporated (TGI) has been appointed the distributor for Thin Set cement from Micro Milling Limited (MML).

Based in Claxton Bay, Trinidad, MML’s website described Thin Set cement as “a precision blend of Portland cement, processed sand and special additives manufactured under stringent controls to ensure consistency and quality.” Thin Set is typically used for the installation of ceramic tiles, quarry tiles, brick pavers, clay tiles and concrete tiles. MML stated its product was developed using proven United Kingdom technology and meets the Tile Council of America’s American National Standard Specification (ANSI) Standard A118.1.

The company also said its Thin Set cement “has been successfully used on a number of projects in Trinidad and throughout the Caribbean.”

According to a statement issued yesterday by parent company, Trinidad Cement Limited, TGI decided to become distributors for the product after a positive response from customers during a market test.

Making the official announcement in Georgetown, Guyana, on March 19, TGI’s marketing representative, Eric Whaul, said MML’s Thin Set cement got such an “excellent review” from local masons and contractors during the test, that even before a shipment had arrived in Guyana, 50 percent had been pre-sold.

Thin Set cement is now available in Guyana from TGI in 50 pound sacks, with 60 sacks to a sling.
