OCM CEO moving on

Mar 13, 2008

Craig Reynald, Chief Executive Officer of One Caribbean Media Limited (OCM), is to retire at the end of April, after almost 15 years with Caribbean Communications Network (CCN).

Reynald, speaking from his office at Express House, Port of Spain, yesterday, said he intends to spend a lot more time with his four daughters, the "gems" of his life, as well as his four grandchildren. He noted that his wife and children had supported him in his career over the years.

At 61, the self-proclaimed "exercise fanatic" said retirement would give him more exercise time and an opportunity to a pursue his long held interest in international finance.

In a release yesterday, OCM's Chairman Sir Fred Gollop praised Reynald for his outstanding contribution to the company during his service, when "the Group was able to significantly improve its performance at all levels to the benefit of its customers, employees and shareholders".

Gollop said an announcement on Reynald's successor will be made at a later date.

Reynald said the two major highlights of his tenure was the introduction of the Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP), which made each employee a shareholder in the company, and the merger between CCN and the Nation Corporation of Barbados.

On his plans for retirement, Reynald said he would be assisting his sons-in-law with some business opportunities and will be a member on a couple of boards. He noted that CCN had grown significantly thanks to his executive team and he feels good about leaving at this time.

"I am not a subscriber to the view that you should stay until retirement. I think you make your contribution and you leave at a time when you think it is right for the company to have new ideas in moving forward for the future," he said.

He added, "One of my mottos is that always leave a place much better than you have met it and I think I have done that."

Reynald joined CCN on August 1, 1993 as Financial Director and Company Secretary. He was appointed CEO on the retirement of Ken Gordon in December 1997 and became CEO of OCM on its formation in December 2005.
