Customers to enjoy up to 15 per cent discount. Blink Vigilance, Sagicor join forces...

Dec 16, 2014

MUTUAL customers of Blink Vigilance security systems and Sagicor Financial are set to be the primary beneficiaries of a new alliance between the companies.

Both firms yesterday announced a partnership that will bring discounts for subscribers on both ends, making home security more holistic and affordable.

The marriage of the services was launched at Sagicor’s The Penthouse at its Queen’s Park West base, where Sagicor’s VP of Trinidad operations, Dyan Loutan-Ali, promised heightened services from both providers.

It’s a happy union that will see customers pocketing up to a 15 per cent reduction in both services, with some Blink Vigilance packages peaking at $500 minus the anticipated discounts.

Potential customers must sign up for packages with the Rapid Response feature in order to benefit from the discounts offered through Sagicor General Insurance Inc.

The agreement signed yesterday by both companies also took effect yesterday and will remain so until November 30, 2015.

The catch-phrase for the new combined service is, “Double protection equals what? Peace of mind”, and targets not just homeowners but corporations as well.

Blink Vigilance packages typically include a fresh-technology wireless system that the Telecommunication Service of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) boasts is monitored 24 hours a day by elite professionals.

Alarm methods include SMS (mobile telephone) alerts, remote-controlled arming and disarming via mobile telephone, rapid response from a cadre of superlatively-trained security personnel and the availability of private security.

According to Rakesh Goswami, executive vice-president Strategic Alliance, Trinidad Operations, at TSTT, Vigilance market penetration has reached at least 15,000 users and is now the most popular home security system in the country.

Goswami said the armed response team attached to Blink Vigilance is not one to be scoffed at and disclosed that a perpetrator caught on the premises of a Couva-based client was recently convicted.

And TSTT itself has seen its own benefits—in-house costs due to vandalism of its copper-based equipment have fallen from a whopping $25 million a few years ago to just about $1 million most recently.
