GKC - Everton L. McDonald Appointed Chairman of GraceKennedy’s Audit Committee

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – May 24, 2013 Financial Consultant and retired Auditor, Everton McDonald, has been appointed Chairman of GraceKennedy’s Audit Committee with effect from July 24, 2013.

He takes over from current Audit Committee Chairman, Gordon Sharp, who retires from the GraceKennnedy Board on July 23, 2013 in keeping with the provisions of the Company’s Articles, after 35 years of sterling contribution as a member of the Board.

Mr. McDonald has been a member of GraceKennedy’s Board and its Audit Committee since May 26, 2011 and also serves as a member of GraceKennedy’s Corporate Governance & Nomination Committee and Compensation Sub-Committee. He is a former Territory Senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Jamaica where he had a distinguished career spanning close to 40 years, retiring in 2009. He is a Past President and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica and serves as a member of its Disciplinary Committee.

Chairman of the GraceKennedy Board, Mr. Douglas Orane, indicated that “We wish to express our thanks to retiring Director, Mr. Gordon Sharp, for his many years of committed service as a member of the Board of GraceKennedy and, since May 2011, as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. We also wish to say how pleased we are that Mr. Everton McDonald has agreed to serve as our new Audit Committee Chairman.” Group CEO, Don Wehby, added his appreciation to Mr. Sharp for his outstanding contribution as a member of the Board and in respect of Mr. McDonald’s appointment, he added that “The Group will undoubtedly benefit greatly from Mr. McDonald’s vast knowledge and experience in his role as Audit Committee Chair. We welcome him to this position.”
