RBL launches its AAdvantage Visa Infinite credit card

Jul 28, 2016

THERE’S a new credit card on the market, “designed with the savvy traveller in mind”, from Republic Bank Limited (RBL) - the Republic Bank AAdvantage Visa Infinite credit card.

General Manager of Electronic Channels and Payments at RBL, Anthony Wong, speaking at the launch, said the card was “designed with the savvy traveller in mind, (allowing) cardholders to capitalise on the card’s special features by offering a particularly unique array of benefits and amenities much in keeping with the demands of frequent travel, while giving you all the rewards that go hand-in- hand with Visa and American Airlines (AA).” Wong made it clear that while there are other Visa products on the market, “many of which offer valuable AAdvantage miles for travel on American Airlines,” the Republic Bank AAdvantage Visa Infinite credit card comes with many additional benefits.

“For starters, cardholders are automatically enrolled in the AAdvantage ® programme, allowing you to earn miles from everyday purchases, which, when combined with AA miles earned from flying American and over 20 other participating airlines, staying at hotels and renting cars, can be redeemed for incredible travel rewards around the World. Additionally, new Visa Infinite applicants will receive 7,500 AAdvantage miles once they spend US$5,000 and over in the first three months after approval of the card.” Wong was addressing guests at the card’s local launch, held at Fanatic Kitchen Studio, Dere Street, Port-of- Spain, on Tuesday evening.

Turning his attention to the needs of business travellers, Wong noted that AAdvantage Visa Infinite cardholders have access to AA’s Priority Pass Lounge Facility, which gives them access to more than 900 airport lounges worldwide in over 400 cities.

“This means you are provided with unfettered access to all the facilities required to transact your business or even simply to relax. The lounges offer quiet and comfortable places to wait for flights, with complimentary refreshments, free internet connectivity and state-of- theart conference spaces, giving you the right settings in which to entertain colleagues, clients and guests.” Other benefits include Price Protection Insurance up to US $4,000 per account per year (Signature/ Platinum $2k), Baggage Delay Insurance up to US $600 (Signature $500), Baggage Loss Insurance for up to US $3,000 (Signature US $1,000), Travel Accident Insurance for up to US $1.5 million (Signature US$1M, MC Gold/AA $250,000) and International Emergency Medical Services up to US $200,000 (Signature - $200k, Platinum US $150,000). Wong said all of this comes with RBL’s “signature chip and pin technology, as well as easy-to-access client emergency and assistance services.” Trinidad and Tobago (TT) is the first English-speaking Caribbean country in which the Visa Infinite AAdvantage Card is available.

This country’s Olympic-bound laser sailor, Andrew Lewis, was presented with his own Republic Bank AAdvantage Visa Infinite credit card at the launch. Lewis was scheduled to leave the country yesterday (Wednesday) en route to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where the 2016 Summer Olympics takes place from August 5 to 21.
