GraceKennedy Limited - Extension of Chairman's Appointment

PROFESSOR GORDON SHIRLEY’S APPOINTMENT AS GRACEKENNEDY CHAIRMAN EXTENDED
FOR AN ADDITIONAL THREE-YEAR TERM

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, JUNE 27, 2016 – The GraceKennedy Board announces the extension of the appointment of Professor the Honourable Gordon Shirley, O.J. as Board Chairman for an additional period of three years.

Professor Shirley will complete his first three years as Chairman of the GraceKennedy Board on December 31, 2016. His new term as Chairman will commence on January 1, 2017 and extends to December 31, 2020.

Group CEO, Don Wehby, indicated that Professor Shirley has been a great Chairman providing insightful leadership to the Board and support for the Executive leadership. “We look forward to his continued guidance as we pursue our goal of becoming a Global Consumer Group.”

Professor Shirley, who has been a member of the GraceKennedy Board since May 30, 1996, served as Chairman of its Corporate Governance & Nomination Committee over the period July 29, 2010 to December 31, 2013. He has served as Chairman of the Board since January 1, 2014 when he became the Company’s first independent non-executive Chairman.

He is currently the President and CEO of the Port Authority of Jamaica. He has also served as Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States of America and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States. He has had a distinguished academic career at The University of the West Indies, serving as the Carlton Alexander Professor of Management, Executive Director of the School of Business and as Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Mona Campus.

Professor Shirley has a Doctorate in Business Administration and an MBA in Operations and Finance from Harvard University and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from The University of the West Indies. He was conferred with one of the nation’s highest honours, the Order of Jamaica, in 2009.
