Anya Schnoor, senior vice president and managing director of Scotiabank T&T Limited, and head, Caribbean East and South, Scotiabank, is the new president of the Bankers Association of T&T (BATT). She succeeds Darryl White in the position.
Joining Schnoor on the newly installed BATT executive is Nigel Baptiste, president and chief executive officer of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, and managing director of Republic Bank Limited, as the new vice president, and Karen Darbasie, Group CEO, First Citizens Bank Limited, as the new treasurer.
BATT is a non-profit organisation formed among the commercial banks to promote collaboration on matters of importance to the banking sector. Its mission is to play a core role in the growth and stability of the financial sector, through advocacy and representation and to facilitate the provision of the most competitive banking products and services to customers with integrity and transparency.
Schnoor has more than 24 years’ experience in banking and investments. She was appointed senior vice president and managing director of Scotiabank T&T Limited on November 1, 2012 and to the Board of Directors on May 31, 2012. In May 2016, her portfolio was expanded to include Scotiabank’s South and East Caribbean operations, providing oversight to the country heads of Guyana, Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and Curacao. Schnoor holds directorships on the bank’s subsidiaries: ScotiaLife T&T Limited (chairperson), Scotia Investments T&T Limited (chairperson), Scotia SKN Limited, the Scotiabank T&T Foundation and United Way Trinidad and Tobago.
