CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank hosted a customer appreciation reception to welcome new CEO Gary Brown to Jamaica last week at the Terra Nova Hotel.
Brown, who is based in Barbados, said he was excited about the prospects for growth for the bank in Jamaica and the rest of the 16 islands in which the bank operates, according to a company news release.
“CIBC FirstCaribbean which recently reported strong financial results for the six months ending April 30, 2016, has lots of capital and the ability to assist customers across the region with their financial goals,” he said.
The bank was constantly investing in innovative systems and products for the benefit of customers and the strength of its Canada-based parent, CIBC, “gives it the resources to do what is needed in the Caribbean”, he said.
In his remarks, the bank’s Jamaica-based Managing Director Nigel Holness pointed to innovations like their mobile app for smartphones which can be used to check account balances, transfer funds, pay bills and more; “Apply online” which facilitates online account opening and loan application services and the Bizline Visa Business Debit Card expressly developed for business owners.
“Times are changing and today’s digital world is having widespread effects on a range of issues including how we handle our finances. Electronics and mobility are key trends that CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank is keeping track of for your benefit,” he said.
Welcoming customers who have been with the bank for several years and new ones, Head Corporate Banking Douglas Cupidon said that the bank was “mindful of catering to all segments, retaining and building market share and remaining relevant and responsive to emerging trends and needs”.
